Community Guidelines
Last updated: September 1, 2026
RetroLand exists so people can relive their childhood and play games together. To keep this place friendly, please follow the rules below. They apply to chat, play rooms, comments, profiles, and official community channels (Discord, Facebook Group, and similar spaces).
The spirit of the place
Play hard, respect each other, and enjoy the game whether you win or lose.
1. Respect everyone
- No insults, slurs, harassment, or personal attacks.
- No discrimination based on gender, region, ethnicity, religion, orientation, or personal circumstances.
- No harassment, threats, stalking, or unwanted messages.
- Light trash talk in a game is fine, but stop when the other person is uncomfortable.
2. Play fair
- No hacks, bots, macros, or automation used to gain an advantage.
- No exploiting game or system bugs to inflate scores or ruin a match.
- No intentional disconnects, room sabotage, or trolling meant to frustrate others.
- No extra accounts used to cheat the leaderboard or evade a ban.
- No selling, buying, or trading accounts or ranks.
3. Copyright and game content
- Do not post, send, request, or share download links for copyrighted game files (ROM/ISO) on any RetroLand channel.
- Do not explain how to download pirated games, and do not promote sites that host pirated content.
- You are welcome to discuss games, their history, tips, and strategies.
- Only post images, video, or music that you have the right to use.
4. Prohibited content
Do not post:
- Pornographic, sexual, extremely violent, or graphic content.
- Content about self-harm, suicide encouragement, drugs, or gambling.
- Extremist political content, hate speech, or content that violates Vietnamese law.
- False information intended to cause panic or to scam people.
5. Privacy and safety
- Do not post personal information about yourself or others (phone numbers, addresses, schools, private photos, and similar details).
- Do not expose or dig up someone else's personal information (doxxing).
- If you are under 18: be careful when talking to strangers. Do not share personal information, and do not meet someone you know only online by yourself. If someone makes you uncomfortable or asks for something strange, tell the moderators and a trusted adult right away.
- Any attempt to approach, groom, or share content that is inappropriate for minors is strictly forbidden. Violations lead to a permanent ban and may be reported to the authorities.
6. Spam and advertising
- No spam, repeated chat, or unfamiliar links.
- No advertising, sales pitches, or invitations to other groups or sites without permission.
- No scams, "get rich quick" schemes, fake giveaways, or phishing links.
7. Display names and avatars
- Do not use offensive names or images, and do not impersonate other people, including moderators.
- Do not use copyrighted logos or images to impersonate a brand.
8. How violations are handled
Depending on severity, moderators may apply any of the following, not necessarily in order:
| Level | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Warning |
| 2 | Removal of the violating content |
| 3 | Temporary chat ban |
| 4 | Temporary account suspension |
| 5 | Permanent ban |
Serious violations (threats, harmful content, organized cheating, harm to children, or distributing malware) may result in an immediate permanent ban and a report to the competent authorities when needed. Scores, ranks, and badges on a violating account may be removed.
9. Reporting a violation
- Use the Report button on the site when it is available, or email contact@retro-land.com.
- Include a screenshot, the username, the time, and a short description.
- We review reports as soon as we can and keep the reporter's identity confidential when possible.
- Do not "handle it yourself" by attacking the other person. Report it to the moderators.
10. Appeals
If you believe a moderation action was a mistake, email contact@retro-land.com with your account name and the reason. We will review it fairly. Within this community, the moderators' decision is final.
11. For administrators and moderators
- Apply the rules fairly. Do not favor friends.
- Do not use moderator powers for personal gain or revenge.
- Keep reports and members' personal information confidential.
12. Changes to these guidelines
These guidelines may be updated as the community grows. Important changes will be announced on the website and community channels.
Thank you for helping keep RetroLand a friendly, civil place for everyone.
