Space Invaders DX is Taito's 1994 tribute to its own 1978 classic. Alongside a faithful recreation of the original, including the colour-overlay cabinet look, it adds a head-to-head versus mode and a parody mode in which the invaders are replaced by characters from other Taito hits such as Bubble Bobble and The New Zealand Story.
